"Little Haunts" Flash #Giveaway at 'This Is The Place Park'

I've been hearing about 4 levels of horror at a nearby underground castle of terror in Salt Lake City. You can indicate which level of horror you want imposed upon yourself, and go from there. I'm sorry, but my days of getting adrenaline rushes from being scared at haunted houses are over! I used to tolerate it, at best. Now I can't even take it! I only wish I could use the excuse that I have to take the grandkids to 'Little Haunts', where things aren't very scary, but I'll have to wait until my sons decide to get married and have kids! Until then, I have nieces and nephews to take! Those of you who have small children or grandchildren, you're lucky! Take them to 'Little Haunts' in Salt Lake City at 'This Is The Place Heritage Park'! They will love it and so will you!

Little Haunts at This Is The Place is the FUN, and not so scary Halloween Haunts for kids and their families!  Trick or Treat throughout the Village! Ride the trains and ponies, Creature Encounters, pan for gold and dig for treasure in Prospectors Pit.  Hear Halloween stories from The Story Telling Witch and join us as Alice the Dragon leads you in the costume parade! You can come with or without a costume.  The Candy Cannon will blast out yummy taffy and there will be face painting, games like Tug O'War, Stick Pony Racing, Bean Bag toss and much much more! For more information call: 801.582.1847

Also, this year there is a special coloring contest! Download and print this page and turn it into the "Deseret Hospital" at the Park, with names and phone so the winners can be contacted. One winner from each indicated age group will be chosen and will receive 6 passes to 'Candlelight Christmas', (another amazing event at 'This Is The Place Heritage Park') and an awesome treat bag for the winner! Make sure to mention my blog, A GAL NEEDS...., to receive $2.00 off each ticket purchased!

The Dog Day Of Summer At 'This Is The Place Heritage Park'

I feel like I have become an unofficial ambassador of sorts for 'This Is The Place Heritage Park! It is just the best place out there because of all the fun family events and amenities. Now they've got a new event that is coming up this Saturday! It's called, appropriately, the 'Dog Day Of Summer' Event!

For any and all of you who have and love dogs, this will be THE place to be! Check this out:
Just $5.00 admission, this will be the best time for your dogs to be the focus of your time and attention. Not only will there be a route for a walk in the park, but sponsor, "I And Love And You" dog food will provide a free meal and poop bags for your furry friend! But that's not all! Meet celebrity dogs, Harlow, Indiana and Reese! Get your pics taken with them and check out their New York Times Best-selling book and have it autographed while you're there! There will be swag and free dog treats available, as well as dog bling at the Heritage Park Gift Shop and other vendors!
You can find the route for the dog walk here. If you would like to participate in the walk/parade, please register here!

You can bet we'll be there with our feisty rescue girl, Evee! She is a border collie that we found in our local paper for $50. She snarled at me the first time we met and bit my husband's hand when he wanted to pet her. It's been almost 7 years, and she has made such progress! She catches frisbee like a champ and is so loving in our family. But she still has some spunk and feistiness left!
Don't have a dog? Maybe you'll find your match at the event! There will be dog adoptions through the Utah Humane Society from 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m.!

Psst....don't forget to mention 'A GAL NEEDS...' for $2.00 off the price of regular admission every day!(A portion of all proceeds will be donated to animal shelters and other animal friendly organizations.)
Disclosure: I was provided free admission to this event in exchange for PR. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Good Scare At The Haunted Village #BeUtahful

It was a dark and stormy night.... The Quaker girl in the long black dress and bonnet was silently standing at the side of the house. Just standing there, no expression on her deathly pale face. When we passed, she followed. It was almost as if she were an apparition. That's when the monkey's started scampering around us, shrieking and jumping over the stair bannister, terrifying me, but mostly Hannah! She screamed and grabbed her boyfriend's hand even tighter!  As we left that house to move on to the next house in the village, I looked back, only to see the Quaker girl, watching us leave.
Hannah, Gaven, and Edison
And that's how it went the whole way, from house to historical house. You never knew when something might jump out, where something would just amaze you with its creepiness. But it was so much fun!
I definitely got my Halloween on last weekend in the 'Haunted Village' at 'This Is The Place Memorial Park'. By day it is the home of 'Little Haunts,' where the children run, play, ride ponies, pan for gold, and have a costume parade, where the candy canon shoots out loads of taffy! In addition, the local villagers throw out even more candy, so everyone has plenty! Little Haunts is open for two more days, the 24th and 31st, 10 am - 5 pm, both days are Saturdays.
If you mention A GAL NEEDS...when purchasing admission tickets to Little Haunts, you'll receive $2.00 off each ticket!
But come nighttime, the park belongs to the ghouls and things that go bump (literally) in the night. It's such a contrast!
The Haunted Village is open Wednesday - Saturday, through Halloween, with tickets going on sale at 6:30 pm. Gates open for the fun at 7:30 pm. There is a guide to welcome you and show you to your first house in the village. You walk from there through the rest of the town in about 90 minutes. The train is waiting at the last house to take you back. So much fun! Admission is $20 per person (so worth it) and make sure to print off your $5.00 coupon at their website!

Hoseback Ride At 'This Is The Place Heritage Park' + $2.00 Ticket Discount!

Thanks to 'This Is The Place Heritage Park' for providing us with a horseback ride for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own!

The all-important birthday party. It shows your kids that you love them, but parties can be hard to plan and time-consuming. It was my nephew's 7th birthday celebration and we decided to let him invite two friends plus his brother to come along for a horseback ride at 'This Is The Place Heritage Park' in SLC, UT! We had a fleeting thought about whether the horses would be gentle enough, since some of the boys hadn't ridden a horse before but other than that, we were stoked!
It was a gorgeous June morning and we arrived at the horse stables after picking up our admission bracelets at the Gift Shop. We met up with James, the cowboy in charge! He had the horses saddled up and ready to ride.

He then helped us up on our horses. All of the horses were so patient and well-behaved! After everyone was saddled up, we were on our way!

We passed through the Pioneer Village

We passed by a Pioneer Cemetery
We saw gorgeous views!
The boys were thrilled and learned how to manage these gentle horses. It was a fun education and we all enjoyed it thoroughly!

After the ride we were free to explore the village and park. One of the things that really capped off this birthday celebration was panning for gold. The boys were enthralled with the historical skill of finding gold by sifting sand out of a pan and finding gold at the bottom. There was gold a-plenty!
We also "happened" to find some curious rocks and found out they are called geodes. There "happened" to be a way to split them open, revealing beautiful, shiny centers! By this time, the boys thought this place was the mother lode of treasure hunting! Each boy got to take home his own geode! They made perfect party favors!

From there we went and ate lunch at the Huntsman Hotel and watched the kids cool off at the Splash Pad!

There was much more to do than we had time for that day, so we hopped on the train and headed back.

I'd say the birthday celebration was a success!  It wasn't too exhausting to plan, the kids were engaged, and the party favors were epic! This place is awesome!

Are you planning on going to 'This Is The Place Heritage Park' soon? Just mention 'A GAL NEEDS...' when you purchase admission, and receive $2.00 off your ticket price!
