Laugh At It + #MyPostMonday The Week's Best Original Content

I have a ding on my front lower calf that is lingering a year later, after the incident originally happened. But every once in awhile, when I look at it, I am reminded of a couple of lessons I learned because of it.
It was late summer of last year and I was taking a walk with my dog in a beautiful part of where I live. I saw a massive storm cloud coming in quickly from the south. It was really close, but it wasn't raining on me. And so I watched the rain from a distance as I continued my walk. The rain shower was short. But then the most gorgeous rainbow appeared. It was a perfect bow and it seemed so close that I could literally touch it. I was blown away by the beauty of it.

Time To Laugh!

As I've mentioned before, I work in a Mild/Moderate Special Ed Remedial High School Classroom.  I love working there this year because everyday each boy (no girls this year) in that room will invariably do something to make me laugh at least once.  They are so funny!  The 3 of us that work in the room often comment that people just wouldn't believe the things that happen.  Troy and Shane are my co-workers and they are hilarious together as well.  Most of the time they play off of each other like the perfect comedy routine.  I often call them the modern day 'Laurel and Hardy'.  I usually come off the job having had a day full of laughs!  I consider myself fortunate because laughter is such a great thing!

According to the International Laughter Yoga Club (yep, you can do laughter yoga) laughter boosts the immune system, relieves pain, helps relieve depression, gives you a mini work-out, protects your heart by beneficially changing the way blood flows through the body, lowers blood pressure, improves breathing, and helps you lose weight!

So this past week has really been beneficial for me in terms of laughter therapy.  Just one example is when Troy and Shane found out that one of the boys in the classroom is deathly afraid of spiders and snakes.  It's so funny because this boy is normally rather full of himself in terms of thinking he is the tough alpha male in the class, but when he sees a snake or spider he freaks!  This week Troy rigged an elaborate pulley system to imitate a spider descending from the ceiling onto a desk.  As our boy was sitting at his desk, he lowered the fake spider slowly in front of him.  It produced the desired results, he totally went bizerk and it was a great laugh. Luckily, he was a great sport about it!
