Well hello, hello! Happy New Year! I am happy to get started after a much-needed break over the holidays. I hope you had an amazing holiday too! Getting started again is always hard because I do get a little bit rusty with the whole blogging thing, which is why it's risky to take a break. Some bloggers I know have taken a break, fully intending to return, but sadly, never do. But not this gal, because a gal needs to blog!
I can't count how many times I've been in the midst of an activity that I'm doing and think about how I'd love to share it with my readers!
Today I'd like to share with you an Etsy Shop that makes the cutest hand-tied and dyed products. Using natural dyes and non-treated fabric, the shop is called Practical And Pretty!
The dyes are used with the following natural substances:
Light pink is made with avocado pits and skins
Hot pink is made with dried cochineal
Yellow is made with turmeric
Blue is made with indigo
Purple made with logwood extract
I
gave some tea towels as gifts to a new mom and they were really much
appreciated! The towels are quite large and I think she could use them
as swaddle wraps, burp cloths, or regular towels.
Below is a cute baby set of a Swaddle and Onesi using indigo!
This beautiful throw was dyed with avocado pits. It's a sort of grayish pink that is hard to duplicate! Who knew you could find a use for the pits of avocados?
Ok, she did it again! My friend, Patti from work made the best baby gift for me! I order many of my baby gifts from her now because I love the novelty of getting something just a bit different. I've been getting baby blankets, baby outfits, baby supplies forever and I guess I've started wanting to be a little out of the box. I want to have fun looking at my gift and I love to see the creativity that someone can have, using ordinary baby supplies and making them into a craft creation! May I present to you the diaper bouquet! Voila!
She has a diaper pail, diapers, baby booties, and a baby blanket in this cute bouquet of 5 flowers! See more of her creations here!
This weekend was filled with a couple of family functions. A baby shower and a birthday party, to be specific! Both were so much fun, as they always are when either my sister or sister-in-law puts them on. They have the talent for entertaining! They put out such a great layout of food, decorations and calm serenity! They go about their hostessing business, looking great and so organized. If it was me, I would be a frazzled, resentful mess. Everything would be half done, half baked, and in a half-hearted state of semi-readiness. No, you wouldn't want to come to one of my parties. On the other hand, I brought the cutest gift to the baby shower. No, I didn't make it, but it seems simple enough to do. I thought I'd share it for the craftsy gals out there! It's a baby girl owl! It has rolled up newborn diapers, with a blanket, bib, changing pad, socks, wash rag, little hair bows, big daisies, attached with rubber band, ribbon and pipe cleaners. I think it turned out so cute. I have a friend who does these little gifts as a business. I paid $20 for this one. It was a huge hit at the shower! Next time I think I'll make one!
